JAYANT R. HARITSA IS THE 2013 ACCS-CDAC FOUNDATION AWARD WINNER
BANGALORE, September 25, 2013 - The Advanced Computing and Communications Society, today announced the name of Prof. Jayant R. Haritsa of the Indian Institute of Science as the winner of the prestigious ACCS-CDAC Foundation award for 2013. The Award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the body of knowledge in Computational Sciences and Information Theory.
The Award instituted in 2004, by the Advanced Computing and Communications Society (ACCS) and the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), fosters the development and dissemination of the theory and applications of Computing and Communications sciences. ACCS-CDAC Award is given to an individual with outstanding contributions and accomplishments that have had a significant and demonstrable effect in the practice of computing and communications engineering.
The Award recognizes Dr. Jayant Ramaswamy Haritsa as the winner this year for his role in addressing fundamental problems in the analysis and design of next-generation database engines. Dr. Haritsa is a senior professor in the Supercomputer Education and Research Centre and the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is a distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and received his post graduate degrees in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), and the Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS), a distinguished scientist of the ACM and a Fellow of the IEEE. He has been on the editorial boards of the IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering and numerous other publications. He is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the Swarnajayanti Fellowship, and the Vikram Sarabhai Research Award to name a few.
The ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award will be presented at the inaugural session of the annual Advanced Computing and Communications Conference (ADCOM 2013) at Chennai on 22nd October 2013.

ELECTION TO THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE FOR THE TWO YEAR TERM 2013-14, 2014-15:
As per bye-laws of the Society, the term of office of the current executive committee has come to a close and elections are due for the selection of new executive committee for the two year term 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Accordingly, nominations are invited for Election to the Executive Committee of ACCS comprising a total of eleven members, as per prevailing bye-laws of the Society:
Nominations to be made only by Life Members, Corporate-Member Nominee’s, Institutional-Member Nominee’s and Ordinary Members;
The nominee proposed must be a Life Member of ACCS of good standing and should have been enrolled as a Life Member at least 24 months, as on date of nomination;
The nominations must comprise the name of the nominee and his/her ACCS membership number;
The nominations should be emailed to the firstname.lastname@example.org by or before the nomination deadline 5pm of 29th June 2013;
All the eligible nominations received per the deadline indicated above, shall be placed at the AGM for the process of voting and Returning Officer shall be Prof. B Datta Guru.

Nominations are open for the ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award for the year 2013
BANGALORE, April 25, 2013 - The Advanced Computing and Communications Society (ACCS) invites nominations for the ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award for 2013. The ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award was instituted jointly by the Advanced Computing and Communication Society and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) in the year 2004 to recognize and honor accomplished individuals with outstanding contributions in the field of Computing and/or Communications engineering.
Nominations are sought on behalf of outstanding individuals of national/international repute that have made exceptional contributions in the field of Computing and/or Communications engineering and are active in industry, academia and/or research laboratories.
The awardee will be selected from among the nominations received by a committee of eminent persons drawn from the industry and academia. The Award is an inscribed silver plaque and a citation that will highlight significant contribution of the selected recipient.
The Award will be presented at the inaugural event of the annual International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications (ADCOM 2013) at Chennai on 21st October, 2013. The recipient will have the distinction of delivering the ACCS-CDAC Foundation Lecture at the conference. Cost of passage from the place of domicile to the venue of the award ceremony and local hospitality will be met by ACCS.

Advanced Computing and Communications Society announces ACCS CDAC Award 2012
BANGALORE, October 26, 2012 - Advanced Computing and Communications Society (ACCS), today announced the recipient of ACCS-CDAC award 2012.
ACCS-CDAC Award 2012 will be jointly shared by Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Dept. of Electrical Engg., IIT Delhi and Prof. Vinod Sharma, Dept. of Electrical Communication Engg., IISc, Bangalore.
