Towards a Green and sustainable Computing…

The Advanced Computing and Communication Society (ACCS) in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science, announces the Seventeenth Annual International Conference on Advanced Computing and Communications (ADCOM 2009) at Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, during 14 -17 December 2009, with the theme of "Green Computing”.

ADCOM 2009 is the high-performance computing industry’s premier event for learning, networking and trend spotting. Professionals from industry, academia and governments from across the world converge at ADCOM 2009 to interact, learn, share-knowledge and experiences.

Over the years, ADCOM has become one of the most successful and highly rated conferences that draw leading scientists and researchers in computational sciences, communications and related domains. ADCOM 2009 reaches out to practicing engineers and professionals from the industry to complement the renowned academicians and brilliant students who will be participating in ADCOM 2009.

ADCOM 2009 explores “Green Computing” as the central theme to achieve higher standards for energy-efficiencies in data centres and related infrastructure components, central processing units, servers and peripherals. It will emphasize reducing resource consumption in the march towards sustainable computing and a ‘greener’ ecosystem. Domain experts present and debate the issues and policies affecting Green initiatives and related areas in the multi-track conference. Companies showcase their latest products, and you can get a chance to see tomorrow unfold in front of your eyes today.

Additionally, the rapid adoption of mobile phones and e-governance initiatives in small towns and villages across India and the launch of cellular broadband this year, will unleash a large pent up demand in these areas for affordable and efficient computing, particularly in improving delivery of public services like education, telemedicine and primary healthcare. The conference will promote efforts in designing computing and communication technologies that are appropriate for small towns and villages across India.

ADCOM 2009, under the patronage of Dr. P. Balaram, Director of the Indian Institute of Science, will be chaired by Dr. N. Balakrishnan of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Dr. Patrick Dewilde of the Technische Universität, Munich, Germany.

The Conference also features an exhibition of products and services from leading vendors in the computing industry. Graduate students from across the world will also present poster sessions describing their research. ADCOM has also been a fertile ground for recruitment of graduate students and professionals alike.

The annual CDAC-ACCS FOUNDATION LECTURE AWARD will be presented at the Conference to honor outstanding contribution from an individual in Computational Sciences.
